Eating only fresh produce makes a girl go crazy!

I went two and a half weeks before going completely crazy. Not knowing if I wanted the natural sugar from fruit, or the processed sugar from a two pound bag of M&M’s. I almost felt like I was tricking myself into feeling the natural sugars from the fruit were awakening my body. Even if I don’t feel sluggish after “clean eating”, I don’t want to feel “out-of-the-loop” about how my body and brain are processing the natural sugars.

I got so confused that I slowly decided to add sugar back into my diet - yes, the processed kind. starting out with once a week (on a Saturday) but then it evolved to Saturday and Sunday, and then it evolved to all day Saturday.

Total weekend binging. That is NOT what life should be, and is not healthy. Even telling myself that vegan doughnuts don’t REALLY count, is delusional.

No matter what, stress and lack of sleep = bad eating habits. People need comfort food, and I’m sorry but strawberries and blueberries are not comfort. They are the elitist food looking down at you for hovering in the corner, snacking on frosted animal cookies.

Now that I have gotten my rant out, I still believe it’s important to include as much as possible, fruit and vegetables in your diet. If you feel as though you are going to throw the bowl of strawberries across the room, maybe add a dab of whipped cream to get that different sugar in your system. Do what works best for you and hopefully, you won’t be unhappy with your food choices.

Eating is supposed to be a happy experience. Not an experience you frown upon each time you load your plate.

Oh my, you just made me laugh! Hope you are able to grab that chipotle burger :) Glad you enjoyed reading the post and that others have the same feelings. I am definitely learning that you need to be happy with your food, but also be healthy with your choices...sometimes.

Loved reading this. Eating is about balance, not deprivation! I struggle somewhat with weight, but try to keep a broad attitude about food. And I'm a huge subscriber to the idea that when you really crave a certain food, its your body telling you something. (Wait, pretty sure its telling me to search out a chipotle burger....must go now...)

I agree - it's not easy giving up foods with processed sugar, but it is one sure way of trimming the belly fat - fast. One of my favorite good sugar/bad sugar combo is blueberries, a dab of plain yogurt, and Hershey's syrup on top. :)
