The Tragically Hip

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

I just downloaded “Coffee Girl” by The Tragically Hip - compliments of Starbucks weekly free download from iTunes.
It’s not a bad song. It’s definitely a song you would walk to, or listen to while driving through the city. It has a mellow yet upbeat romantic vibe. It reminds me of a song that would appear in the middle of an early nineties movie when the two main characters discover they are in love, but someone comes in the middle of the two, opening their eyes to what could have been several years ago, and what can be if one of the two steps up and just kisses the other and confesses their love.

Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Do you like free music?

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Every Tuesday, Starbucks comes out with a new song from an unknown band, for you to download from iTunes for free. I’ve decided to start writing about these songs, and am hoping to maybe find some to add to my workout play list. It also doesn’t hurt to open your mind to new sounds that you would otherwise say no to.

My first free download is Andrew Bird “Fitz and the Dizzyspells”.

Upbeat, soft yet a little romantic, I can almost see myself riding my bike through the long, windy dirt roads of the back-country. With the wind blowing through my hair, and gazing out into the rolling green fields of wild flowers.

Not sure if I would buy anything else from Andrew Bird, but will definitely check out what else they have to offer. And hey, who doesn’t like free music?

Oh, and there is a fun whistling solo in the song too. If that doesn’t lift your spirits, I don’t know what will!

Enjoy!

My finger can’t hold still!

I have a problem. I can’t leave my ipod alone! I have an addiction to surfing my playlist. One great song will come along and I’ll sing or sway along, but when it’s over I go crazy and skip like, 20 songs. I really need to make a playlist dedicated to the songs to sing along to.

What’s your favorite song to sing along to?

Songs I like to sing along to are:

Jason Mraz: I’m Yours

Gwen Stefani: Sweet Escape, Undernieth It All

Weezer: Thought I knew, Heart Songs (and well, almost all of them)

Tristan Prettyman: You Got Me, Madly

Shock Value: Appologize

Sublime: any of their songs will do.

Natasha Bedingfield: Love Like This

Maroon 5: any of their songs will do.

and many, many more :)
